UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination 2024

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification inviting applications for the Combined Medical Services Examination 2024. This examination is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to various medical officer posts in the Central Government services, including the Indian Civil Service (ICS).

Eligibility

  • Citizenship: A candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Age: Not more than 32 years of age on the 1st of August 2024. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per the government norms.
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must possess an MBBS degree from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Selection Process

The selection process for the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination 2024 consists of two stages:

  1. Written Examination: The written examination will be conducted in two papers, each carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each paper will be of two hours duration.
  2. Personality Test: Candidates who qualify on the results of the written examination will be called for a personality test carrying 100 marks.

Scheme of Examination

The written examination will consist of two papers as follows:

Paper I (General Medicine and Paediatrics):

  • General Medicine (96 Questions)
  • Paediatrics (24 Questions)

Paper II (Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine):

  • Surgery (40 Questions)
  • Gynaecology & Obstetrics (40 Questions)
  • Preventive & Social Medicine (40 Questions)

The written examination will be completely objective type (Multiple Choice Questions).
