This examination is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to various medical officer posts in the Central Government services, including the Indian Civil Service (ICS).

Eligibility
- Citizenship: A candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Age: Not more than 32 years of age on the 1st of August 2024. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per the government norms.
- Educational Qualification: The candidate must possess an MBBS degree from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Selection Process
The selection process for the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination 2024 consists of two stages:
- Written Examination: The written examination will be conducted in two papers, each carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each paper will be of two hours duration.
- Personality Test: Candidates who qualify on the results of the written examination will be called for a personality test carrying 100 marks.
Scheme of Examination
The written examination will consist of two papers as follows:
Paper I (General Medicine and Paediatrics):
- General Medicine (96 Questions)
- Paediatrics (24 Questions)
Paper II (Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine):
- Surgery (40 Questions)
- Gynaecology & Obstetrics (40 Questions)
- Preventive & Social Medicine (40 Questions)
The written examination will be completely objective type (Multiple Choice Questions).
